Ashtangahridhayam which is called as the heart of eight branches of Ayurveda is an authorized user-friendly text of Ayurveda and it is seldom used all over the world as it is vastly done in Kerala. The Vaidyas of Kerala were very talented in treating various diseases. It is in Kerala that more than hundreds of kashayams were scientifically classified and organized in accordance with several treatment needs. Keralite vaidyas were the first to concentrate on the antioxidant properties of Abhyanga (Body massage with medicated oil) which lead to the profusion of Kizhis (Herbs and medicinal oils tied in a cloth bag). Vast Number of Ayurvedic medical colleges and research centeres made Kerala the hub of ayurvedic treatments.
